The questions you first have to ask yourself are;
1. Do I want to be a sales person?
2. Do I like working to targets, goals and deadlines?
3. Could I cope with the constant pressure to perform?
4. Am I naturally competitive?
5. Am I self motivated?
6. Am I driven by financial reward?
7. Do I want to make this my career over the next 5-10 years?
If you can truly answer yes to all of the above then you are half way there. There is always a risk that it might not work out for you but if you have the drive and determination to win through then you stand a decent chance of doing just that.
